Artificial intelligence is opening up new possibilities in coaching and self-coaching: AI-powered tools help identify blind spots, make better decisions, and actively shape relationships. The AI coach Jay by ID37 analyzes individual personality profiles and delivers tailored recommendations – for greater clarity in how we relate to ourselves and others. A new feature sets Jay apart from other coaching bots: with a single click, people from your own network can be included in the chat. In this interview, Thomas Staller explains how it works.
At a glance:
Thomas Staller: Jay is an AI chatbot for personal development that combines the scientific ID37 model with generative AI. He specializes in understanding people and soft skills. When chatting with AI coach Jay, users don't need to describe their personality. The AI coach already knows each user's individual motive structure. Jay "knows" what drives them internally, enabling him to provide individualized impulses and relevant responses. This sets him apart from conventional generative AI systems.
Jay is part of the ID37 account – anyone who has created a personality profile can start right away. All ID37 profile holders can connect with others – such as colleagues, family members, or their business coach. These connections are visible in the "My Network" feature. Once connected, Jay can incorporate their profiles into the conversation – simply by using the @ symbol in the chat.
Jay then analyzes the relationships and provides personalized tips for successful conversations, for example how to avoid conflicts or build trust. Role-playing is also possible. What works for individuals also works with teams: when people are connected, Jay provides insights into team dynamics. Dealing with tensions can be prepared in advance. This fosters judgment, feedback skills, and emotional intelligence – and leads to better team performance.
Jay can be used professionally and privately – for leadership, teamwork, and personal relationships. The fictional manager Lisa Fit illustrates this versatility: Lisa uses her account for her leadership team and privately, for example, in dealing with her teenage son. In both cases, Jay generates suggestions based on the personality profiles involved. At work, it's about leadership and teamwork; at home, it's about understanding each other better.
The core idea: I engage with the people around me. I take an interest in their perspective. I make the effort to understand their personalities and emotions better – without having to change who I am.
Instead of guessing, a manager can directly consult the AI coach. Let's say Lisa is dissatisfied with team member Benedict. She asks Jay: "Why can't I get through to @Benedict? How can I talk to him about his performance without hurting him?" Jay knows both personality profiles and can suggest how to structure the conversation, which words work better – and what to avoid. This isn't rigid advice but rather emerges through dynamic exchange.

The key difference is the depth of analysis: Jay is built on the scientific ID37 personality assessment. He knows the individual expression of 16 life motives for everyone involved – for example how strongly someone responds to recognition, how important structure or autonomy is. This results in highly specific, deeply personalized recommendations for action.
"When it comes to individualization, our AI coach sets the standard!" – Thomas Staller, Co-Founder of ID37

ID37 data is stored on AWS servers in Germany and processed in compliance with GDPR. All data is transmitted in encrypted form. Jay is a proprietary ID37 development, trained on the ID37 methodology. There is an interface to OpenAI, but access is controlled and secured through ID37's own system. No upload of user data, no external processing, no sharing for AI training. And crucially: data ownership – users always decide for themselves with whom they share their personality profile.
Access to Jay costs 5 euros per month, including VAT. There is a 14-day free trial period. It was important to us that this support is accessible to as many people as possible – whether in leadership positions or in personal life.
It will become an integral part! Coaches need to learn to use AI tools professionally. This includes mastering prompting. AI does not replace human coaches, but it empowers them! AI functions like a sparring partner – in personal development, in designing coaching sessions, or in relationship matters. Regardless of whether users are professionals or employees, knowledge workers, tradespeople, or individuals with personal concerns.
The success of such tools depends on the quality of the underlying data and methods. At ID37, it is the evidence-based personality analysis that Jay draws on. He is a coach who understands complex personalities and can interpret their effects. And he helps managers like Lisa Fit fulfill their roles more consciously and effectively (laughs).
